I'm about to give up. Angry This is the fifth Dare I've had and the second with this particular problem. I've had this phone for six weeks. It was fine until yesterday. The phone stopped taking a charge from the wall (using cord that came with phone), but will charge from USB. Same thing happened with first phone. However, the first phone eventually stopped taking a charge from the USB as well, and so began my saga with the Dares. I sense a pattern. Is this a known issue? Thanks in advance.

Nope, this is not a known problem.  Actually the first I have heard of it the way you describe it.

Basically the battery and the charger work as a combination and if either is faulty it simply does not charge the battery. The phone does very little other than provide the circuit between the charger and the battery. Ofcourse if that circuit goes bad it can contribute to the problem.

Since you say the USB is charging but not the charger it leads me to believe the wall charger is bad or the circuit between the charger and the battery.  However, you have had the phone replaced and the problem seems to repeat itself.  This leads me to believe they may be replacing the phone and not the battery or the charger.

So, do you know for sure that you are getting a new charger and a new battery each time?

Thanks for the reply. Since posting here I found another forum with a similar posting. According to them, Verizon has acknowledged a port problem on the Dare.
To answer your question - I kept the same battery and cable through four phones. After the first phone, the next three charged fine from the wall. The other three were sent back for a texting problem with no fix.
However, my current phone and battery are brand new, out of the box. New phone, new battery, new cable. Beats me.
I'm taking it to Verizon now to see what can be done. Thanks again.

If you are having a problem with charging it would seem to me that you should get a new cable/charger.

And could you provide a link to the site where "Verizon has acknowledged a port problem on the Dare".  I find that hard to believe since this site has over 50,000 members and we've never heard of a widespread port problem.

... kept the same battery and cable through four phones...

Wow, why would you do that?  You aren't eliminating a possible problem - just compounding it.  Yes, your new phone may work fine but the cable/and or battery may have a problem that doesn't surface but at certain times (power flux, etc.).  My goodness - use one of the new cable/battery next time so you can at least have a fighting chance...

Alright, I had the same EXACT issue, but the good people at Telus explained that the charger was not covered by the warranty, just the phone.

You can either buy a new charger off of the web (if that's what you prefer), or you can go to an electronics store and replace the part that the USB adapter plugs into, to charge from the wall. Personally, I needed mine quickly, so I went the "The Source" (an electronics retailer), and they had a wide selection of adapters for USB to wall outlets.

Caution must be used though, make sure you are buying the right amperage/voltage for your adapter, bring your original and make sure that they are the same! Anything different has potential to damage your phone!

Mine was worked perfectly since then, no complaints. The cost for me was around $15-$20 Cdn.

The benefit shelton has is they keep (if I read his message correctly) providing a new charger/battery but he keeps using the old charger/battery.   shelton - did I read your message correctly?

Sadly, I left the Dare family. Took the phone in and VZW gave me an enV Touch. They tried different cords and batteries and couldn't get it to charge either. To answer your questions:

vpnavy: I used the same cord/battery for the first few phones, based on conversations with the VZW techs. However, the phone that just died was with a brand new battery and cable, right out of the box. Same problem.

Da Dare Dude: Here's the link about VZW acknowledging the problem. Third post by jovindiesel - http://cellphoneforums.net/lg-dare/t287950-lg-dare-broken-charging-port.html
My bad - just read that again and saw that it mentions bent pins. Not the same problem technically. But it looks like a few others have had similar problems.

Thanks again for your replies. I'm glad I was the exception and not the rule!  Wink

the link you provided DOES NOT prove that verizon has ackowledged the problem....it is all hearsay and not even verizon site....its just around forum site with rumors and speculation so please refrain from stating what a certain company acknowledges when they have not come out with any press releases or statements...

I have the same problem. I was using the first one that came with the phone. That's the one with the USB thing with it. That stopped working unless I used the USB part. I just bought a new one that I could use in the wall and that had the same problem. ONLY at certain angles will the phone charge. It's a stupid problem that I am having too. You're not alone

Wow thought I was the only one having this problem. I can only charge from usb to pc, not usb to ac wall outlet! It's very annoying since my laptop doesn't charge it as quickly. I even bought a brand new ac wall charger and usb cable (both OEM) and it still wouldn't charge from the wall.

Think I can get a new phone if I take it to verizon?

I'm also facing this problem. The Dare could only charge from the USB cable but the wall charger wouldn't work on it.  Cry

I used to have a Moto V9 which uses the exact same port. That didn't work on the LG...so I even tried buying a new charger....but that didn't work either (which I then returned it)

Waiting for the wall outlet USB adapter which hopefully can solve my problem.
