If you pair your Dare with your computer via Bluetooth, you can transfer any file if you have an sd card in your dare, if not you can transfer mp3 and jpg.

Figure out how to pair it with your computer:
usually turn your computer bluetooth on
go to the dare bluetooth menu click add, click start, follow instruction, put in any code, match it with the prompt on the computer, and you're done.

When you see your computer icon in the bluetooth menu of the dare, touch it, you will see a menu, scroll down to browse/get files. wait for it to connect, you should see a screen pop up on your computer (you should make sure that only the destop is showing, minimize all browsers and programs) whatever address is whatever the place your phone will grab the files. This will only allow you to add one file at a time.

You can add multiple files if you go to your computer and select the file (or files) and right click it. you should see a menu with a "to bluetooth" selection. this will also add the files to your phone.

I use windows, but i think macs may also be able to do the same thing if they come with bluetooth, albeit the procedures are probably a bit different from windows.

cheers.

If you use windows you can go to Bluetooth Information Exchanger (which can be found in *Computer*) -> File Transfer -> [your phone]

This will allow you to access:
MyPictures
MyMusic
MySounds
MyVideos
and from your SD card

Transfer to and from (computer and phone) via this method by drag and drop.

I pair my Dare with my Nokia N810 Internet Tablet for PAM (Phone as Modem) and it works amazingly.

The bluetooth PAM works faster with my 2 devices paired than my friends eee machine and a Sprint aircard.

Don't know why but I felt like letting you all know because it does not work with my brides Voyager or a Samsung Glyde.

Warning: Do not use your phone as a modem unless you have a data plan--which is different than Vpak because you're tethering your phone--since it may/will charge you for data usage. You do not want to have crazy overages on your bill.

This thread is only for connecting the Dare via Bluetooth. You'll have to give me more information than that. If you mean connecting by wire, well then you should ask in another category.

Edit:
If you want to connect by wire, then all you have to is plug the phone in. From the phone go to Settings & Tools->Tools->USB Mass Storage.

wait for something to pop up on your computer (autoplay) and select "open folders to view files". This is way faster than Bluetooth but it requires a wire. Bluetooth doesn't.

My PC does not have BT capability built in.  I have seen BT dongles and wonder what impact that would have with the transfer.  I have found in the past that using add-ons degrades the overall performance as compared to a built in function.  Any suggestions?  I have an HPS700n mini tower.  I have "up graded" the RAM to 2gb and added a 500gb WD external harddrive.  I don't doubt I have the processing power but I wonder about the efficiency of  the dongles themselves.

i use a dongle, and it works fine, and its fun with a wiimote Wink

oh and to connect your phone to bluetooth

okay here is what you do,

1. click turn on bluetooth on your phone, and click show.

2. on your computer go to your bluetooth places and click add new

3. if it asks the devices you are interested in click  OBEX file transfers  then hit next/finish

3. when it asks for the password, type 1234 (it may ask after you hit finish it may not im not sure

4. your phone should say pair requested from so and so, click accept. now when it asks type the passkey type 1234 then okay. your phone should then be paired with your computer

(you can put this in the first post if you give me credit lib)

I just came to check on this. Are you serious. Give you credit for this? Give me a break. 90% of this is intuitive (you know follow the instructions on the computer and phone...)  :Smiley

I can't get Bluetooth connection to my Windows PC to work .... I follow the instructions above and when I get to the point where it asks me for the Passkey on the Dare I put one in and I never get the prompt on the pc for the passkey. It immediately fails with the Dare saying "Device Pairing Incomplete".

Unsure if anyone knows about this, but what bluetooth stack do I need for Windows?

I want to be able to use this phone with my CarPC.  I already have the software (PhoneControl.NET) and the BT dongle.  The computer recognizes the phone, but I can't get PhoCo to work, and I'm pretty sure it's a stack issue..

pretty straight forward. but really bluetooth can only go so far. Phone to Phone yes. Pictures yes. but if you want to do some serious transfers like movies, sd cards are the way to go.
