As a response to a lot of questions asking about modifications to this and that, i'm here to answer all you hackers out there.

Things that CANNOT be changed
- Icons at bottom of homescreen
- Icons on Main Menu (order and color, Black Theme ONLY)
- Power On/Off video and sound clip
- Verizon Internet intro screen
- Sound clips (shutter flash)
- Direction which icons enter the screen on Main Menu
- Contrast ratio bars on video player
- Font size

These have all been locked into the firmware of the phone and cannot be modified under any circumstances. Not BitPim, not QPST.

Things that CAN be modified
- Icons on the homescreen page
- Icons on Main Menu (order, White Theme ONLY)
- Icons on the shortcut menu
- Wallpaper and Ringtones
- Alert sounds
- Internet Browser color
- WAP settings
- Telus music player color (Telus users only)

These can be changed by the user manualing, by using BitPim
or by using the LG programming menu. Information to this and more can be found by using the search feature, located in the upper right hand corner of this page.

Please search first before asking. Thank you.

I hope this will eliminate duplicate questions, maybe help to reduce the same questions being asked over and over again.

Not sure what you are asking but if you are asking if you can change the Browse template colors - not that I'm aware of...I'm sure if there is a way - someone will pipe in shortly.

the only way you can change the browser color is by changing the Theme that you are using. So the only options are black or white

True, I was referring to the Black Theme. I'll make the necessary changes

the only way you can change the browser color is by changing the Theme that you are using. So the only options are black or white

This is true. Also by using BitPim, you can find the theme files and extract them to your computer. By editing the saturation and hue with a photo editing utility, you can then change the color. Load them back up on the phone and you have a new browser color (which will replace either the black or white). They should be here somewhere on the forum.

i'm almost positive no one has asked this
many people have asked how to turn of shutter sounds for camera/video

but the only solution is to turn it to a vibrate or no sound option
so my question is,
can you replace one of the shutter sounds using bitpim with a short 1 second long blank sound file?
you know just like you replace the animated pictures for flash games?

thanks for the possible help in advance

Only if you can figure out which file it is...also, unless you are absolutely sure that the internal code doesn't require the file to be the same exact size, checksum, etc. - you could end up with a Bricked phone.
Remember, one mistake with BitPim can lead to a bricked phone!

there is a way to back up my firmware correct?
so if i brick my phone can i not just reinstall the original firmware, and never try that again? haha
