I am thinking about getting a Dare, but it would need to be unlocked or something of the sort to work on my Local provider.  Can this be done on the Dare?

And your local provider would be?
And, did you ask your local provider?

As long as your local provider is cdma instead of gsm it should work. (Gsm uses sim cards.)

Am I mistaken in the fact that VZW is right across the US?

I know Telus is definitely all over Canada, so unless you're overseas I don't see why you couldn't hook up with one of the providers that actually provides the dare?

He might already be locked into a contract with Sprint or another provider. I know that Cricket and MetroPCS provided unlimited everything with no monthly contract, so you could flash it over to that provider. However, I think it would be cheaper to get a Verizon account to get the Dare on discount.

my cell provider is Inland Cellular and I wont be changing.  I currently have an HTC PPC 6800 and that phone does not have a sim card so I am pretty sure they are using CDMA.

I think you might be spoiled by the HTC. Are you sure you want to go back to a regular phone?

You'll need to flash your Dare phone to Inland. More information on flashing over at the HowardForums website, see under US Carrier Cricket Wireless.

well inland does not have any special programs or settings other than just a "saying/header" when you make a call.  My HTC is currently using a Sprint rom so that I could get 6.1WM on it.

I dont use most of the functions of the HTC.
