Yes it can!! The Dare can play mp4, 3gp, and 3g2 formats.
In order to play a movie, you first need to purchase a microSD memory card. These can be purchased for less than $20, and you do
not need to purchase the memory card at Verizon. Any size memory card up to 16GB will work.
(Disclaimer - you can load movies to the phone's internal memory, but the process is a little more difficult. In addition, the phone only has about 100MB of memory, so you would only be able to load one short movie.)
Here are the instructions for loading a movie:
1. Install the USB driver on your computer. The driver is on the Verizon CD which came with the phone. You DO NOT need to install Rhapsody, just the driver.
2. Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable, then select Setting & Tools ► Tools ► USB Mass Storage
3. Open My Computer on your computer and the memory card should appear as a new drive.
4. Open the drive and you should see five folders - media, my_flix, my_music, my_pix, my_sounds.
- media = system folder created by the phone but not used
- my_flix = movies/videos
- my_music = music
- my_pix = pictures
- my_sounds = voice memo recordings
5. Copy the movie file from your computer and paste it directly into the my_flix folder. The movie file cannot be in a subfolder.
6. Exit USB Mass Storage Mode on your phone and unplug the USB cable
7. Test the movie - Media Center ► Pictures & Videos ► My Videos
If the movie does not play correctly, the bitrate and resolution may be too high. Here are some threads discussing how to rip/convert movies for the Dare -
