You can only use this method if you have a memory card in the phone.

1.  Make sure the media is on the memory card.  If the media is stored on the phone's internal memory, you need to transfer the media to the memory card - Settings & Tools ► Memory ► Phone Memory ► select appropriate category (My Pictures, My Videos, My Music, or My Sounds) ► Move ► check mark the item(s) to transfer ► Done ► Yes

2.  Install the USB driver which is on the Verizon CD which came with the phone.  You DO NOT need to install Rhapsody, just the driver.

3.  Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable, then select Setting & Tools ► Tools ► USB Mass Storage

4.  Open My Computer on your computer and the memory card should appear as a new drive.

5.  Open the drive and you should see five folders - media, my_flix, my_music, my_pix, my_sounds.

  • media = system folder created by the phone but not used.

  • my_flix = movies/videos.  FYI - the Dare naming convention for videos is - monthdayyeartime.    So a video shot at 10:15am on September 7, 2008 would be named 0907081015.3g2

  • my_music = music

  • my_pix = pictures

  • my_sounds = voice memo recordings

6.  Select the file(s) you want to transfer and then cut/copy them to a folder on your computer

7.  Exit USB Mass Storage Mode on your phone and unplug the USB cable
