Right now we are being treated like mushrooms...you have heard the story...kept in the dark and fed b.s....
Enough is enough.
When Monday ends if I have not received a reply from Verizon concerning this update, I will go to their site and search for and find the corporate center of operations.
I have done it in the past on other issues (Cattleman's Restaurant and Hilton Hotels)...
I have a few ideas cooking and will post when it gets closer to the dinner bell of ideas rings...
FA1SGL,
First, I am completely unaware of Version 5 Software for the Dare. In fact, I just returned my DARE last week because of an unacceptable "bug" and was informed both by Verizon and LG that there is no software or firmware update for the DARE. So, I'm a bit confused about what you are referring to.
The bug you are referring to is not one that I had yet discovered. I'm betting though that Verizon will just blow you off because they don't consider it to be of any real consequence. Why do I say that?
Because, the bug I found which caused me to return my DARE was treated exactly that way. What bug is that?
THE BUG IN THE MUSIC PLAYER WHICH CAUSES IT TO PLAY ONLY THE FIRST 250 SONGS OR SO WHEN IN SHUFFLE MODE. This bug has been confirmed to exist in
EVERY LG DARE ON THE MARKET TO DATE!While that may not be a major issue for some folks, it was for me. The DARE is advertised as "also an MP3 player", but with that kind of a bug....no way!! Out of more than a 1000 songs on my 8gb card, all I could ever hear were the first 250 or so. Ridiculous!
And even more ridiculous...the comment I got from Tech Support at LG....
"Yeah, but many of the MP3 players on the market are like that". what the hay! Even my 12yr old son's freebie, cheapie MP3 player can shuffle through songs properly.
I've been a customer of Verizon for almost 8yrs and I've always been happy. But lately, I feel like an unpaid beta tester for them that gets scorned when you bring a problem to their attention.
EXAMPLESVERIZON XV6800....locks up often, ActiveSync program turns on by itself, and the one that finally made me return it -
THE MMS NOTIFICATION LIGHT IS DISABLED. Verizon claimed that they had no knowledge of that problem, even though it was confirmed by their authorized store that every 6800 had that bug. UTStarcomm(the manufacturer) told me, [u
]"that's the way Verizon told us to build it, and that's the way we built it! Have a nice day[/u].
When I returned the XV6800, Verizon tech support assured me that the bug would be fixed in the next update.
WRONG!!! Verizon and UTStarcomm released the XV6900 with the very same bug in it as well. Unbelievable!!
-
SAMSUNG GLYDE.... forget it, so many bugs it would take forever to list.
-
LG DARE....well, I've already told you about that bug.
You want to REALLY know just how much Verizon values you as a customer??? Well, get ready for this one.
When I returned the LG DARE and thought about trying a BlackBerry, Verizon told me....
THEY WERE NOT GOING TO ALLOW A RENEWAL OF MY NEW EVERY TWO AND WOULD ONLY ALLOW ME A ONE TIME DISCOUNT TOWARDS ANOTHER PHONE!!! After over an hour on the phone with a "supervisor", they agreed only to renew my New Every Two. Uhh, sort of sounds like the same thing to me. A discount towards another phone and that's it. If it has a bug in it that is unsatisfactory to you....TOUGH LUCK!!
I could go on and on about the nonsense I've had with Verizon phones since January. But the point I'm trying to make here is that,
Verizon does not care about any bug or glitch you find in one or more of their phones. Their phone warranty is clear. The warranty applies ONLY to a defect which renders the phone USELESS.
The XV6800 MMS Notification bug and the LG Dare Music Player bugs that I found does not constitute a "useless phone". However, what those bugs, the one you found and the many others that have been found and reported by other Verizon customers definitely does constitute is,
A COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM!!I'm just another Verizon "mushroom" wishing you luck on your efforts.
