How about free cappuccino Mondays?  Post a useful tip on Mondays and get a coupon from LG-Dare.com for a free cappuccino at Starducks or something.  And for our younger members, it could be free milk and cookies Mondays.
And who will pay for these coupons? haha. What about free cookie monday? Post a useful tip and    you get cookies?

I'll volunteer.  Do I have to wear clothes under my apron?   :8-O:
For the sake of the young ones, yes.

i know that there is a ''relevence'' thing that is supposed to show how relevent (helpfull) a certain topic is, but from my understanding, that is only determined by the number of replies compared to the number of times its read (or something like that)  i think it would be cool if there were a way for users to rate each topic as to how helpful it was to them. im sure its probaly not something that could be done. but it would be more telling to how relevent a topic is  (imo)

I looked into getting this Mod installed. Unfortunately, it is only compatible with the beta 2.0 forum software. We are running 1.1.7. If/when we upgrade to a stable 2.0, this is definitely a feature we will look into. Good idea UM.

I don't know if this is something the admins should decide or if it should be up for public discussion.  But the issue which I think should be addressed is how do we handle first time posters who ask basic questions?

Do we just answer the question, which will eventually mean that this site will be full of redundant posts.  Do we tell the OP they should use the search feature and then lock the post?  Do we provide the OP with a link to the answer and then delete the post?

My concern is now that we are growing rapidly, the number of redundant posts will continue to grow.  And this will make it harder for people to use the search feature because they will have to wade through a massive number of posts.

I have seen other sites which just keep the core posts and then delete redundant posts.  I'm not saying we should do that, but something needs to be done.

I agree with you. The way that I usually handle a redundant post by a new member, is I first tell them to use the search function. Then I provide them with a link to the thread where the issue was already discussed. You are right though...as this forum gets larger, we will continue to see a lot of redundant posts. I may try to think of a system to cut down on this.

Any one else have any thoughts on this issue?
