Has anyone tried the new golf app yet? Just curious if it's worth the money every month to download it. My friend has one on his storm that works really well, but don't know anyone with one the dare yet. Thanks.

...Has anyone tried the new golf app yet?...

Which game are you talking about (PAC-MAN Arcade Golf, Mini Golf 99 Holes, Ernie Els Golf 2009, etc.)?

Guess it's not a game. It's called GPSgolfshot. It's a range finder that you can use while you're golfing to tell you distances on a golf course.

...It's called GPSgolfshot...

I remember golfing at a course in NC that had range-finders on each cart - it was really neat!  Anyway, I just searched LG-Dare and didn't find any reference to it.  So - in the meantime...

I searched the net and found the following and it did list the LG Dare as a supported phone.

GPSGolfShot - GPSGolfShot is the revolutionary new downloadable golf application for Verizon Wireless mobile phones that provides accurate, GPS based distances on thousands (and growing) of professionally mapped golf courses across the USA. Just download the application and it literally turns your phone (click here to see currently supported phones) into a state-of-the-art GPS golf rangefinder that provides you the same critical distance information you get from those expensive golf rangefinders right on your mobile phone!

GPSGolfShot uses the GPS chip in your Verizon Wireless mobile phone plus the power of Verizon Wireless' unmatched nationwide network to deliver real-time distance information to the front, center and back of greens on thousands of professionally mapped golf courses, automatically.

With GPSGolfShot you’ll never again need to remember to download courses or connect to a PC, just show up at the course and GPSGolfShot automatically detects your location, loads the right golf course info and you are ready to take dead aim.

YES!  Like 2 to 3 times already and still havent paid a dime!  I think there really pushing the app now since the comercial is out about all the "new vzw apps/games".  They put up a new demo like every other day it seems and when I hit the golf course on the weekend I just re-download the demo that lasts till the next day.  I think I havent been able to get the demo like one time when I was out on a course.

Its actually really helpful as long as ur not playing Super Fast Ready Golf.  You have to turn your locator on so it can find you.  It finds where your at and you select the golf course your at.  Then the hole and watch it tell you how far away you are.  It gives you front center and back of the green.  It takes a second when your driving to your ball to catch up and you can see it counting down the yardege but doesnt take im guessing more then 7 seconds to give you a read.

The only annoying thing about it is you cant just keep the backlight on all the time so you always have to touch the screen but this does not bother me at all.  The best/easiest way to enjoy this app is set your dare to NOT auto lock after how ever many seconds.  Then you can put your dare in 1 of the cup holders (of course with a case and protective screen cover on) Then just simply tap the screen when you need the read.

Better then buying a $300 range finder...TRY IT OUT PEOPLE!

yes, I have been using it and find it works quite well. I rode in a cart with someone who had one of those $400 golfbuddy gps's and we checked at every shot and they were always within 1 or 2 yards of each other. I also like the measure your shot feature. you press a button where you hit from and then go to where the ball is laying and it shows you how far you went. I have even used that while not on the course to find out distances.

Agreed it works well and I like.  I would recommend you check their website to see if the course you play are set up for it.  I play a lot of course near Philly and most are in there.
It does wear your battery down pretty good so I normally charge my phone the night before.  I noticed it takes about half my battery life in a normal 4:30 to 5 hr round.
