Hi Everyone and thanks for this forum.

I got my Dare 2 days ago and it is really growing on me. I do have a couple of questions and hopefully there's some advice:

1. I installed the Verizon Manager and Rhapsody, but I can't seem to get Rhapsody to see my phone as a device. It sees my iPod. Is it supposed to? Is it a useful application? I assume it's to transfer music, manage playlists, etc...

2. Although I'm getting better at it, the scrolling seems awkward. Granted, I don't have long fingernails, but is it just me - maybe there's more I can do with the calibration?

3. I paired an old BlueTooth headset and it's okay, but my wife told me that there was an inexpensive one (about $25) that sounded great. I've never had much luck with BT headsets - can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive one for the Dare?

3. I used DataPilot to transfer my contacts but I've heard the something called BitPim is good (I haven't tried it yet). Any good applications for contact mangers?

4. I found a site (www.zedge.net) that has some wallpapers, ringtones, etc... any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone for any help.

Sincerely,
Paul

Welcome!  I'll answer what questions I can...

1) rhapsody does do music, but just music.  Make sure to install the drivers for your phone BEFORE plugging your phone in: XP/Vista doesn't have the capabilities of recognizing it otherwise.  As for your iPod, that's odd.  I didn't think it would recognize it.  Cool.

2)  You can play with the calibration of your phone.  There are tutorials of people figuring out the best way to do it on the site.  As for my advice, you'll get used to it in time and find what works best for you.  Experiment until you get it to your liking.

3)  I don't know what's good, but most BT's work just fine.  If people complain about the quality or you can't heard them, you can get a better one.

4)  I haven't heard of DataPilot.  Does it work with the dare?  Bitpim works fairly well, though it is limited.  I haven't heard of any other program able to sync with the Dare.  You're probably limited to Bitpim.

5)  Zedge is my favorite site to use.  It has all the things I would want and more, and is very easy to use.  www.myxer.com is supposed to be another good one.

Enjoy, and welcome!

Thanks for the help. I love the Zedge site - I signed up and it's a great resource.
Also, I am getting used to the scrolling - thanks for the help with that too.

I was wondering and this probably has been answered - but I'm watching the kids and don't have much time to search... but,

1. Can I buy a different USB cable - other than verizon's to charge my phone? I want one for the computer and one to use in another room.

2. Any opinions on the extra storage battery - I think it holds a bigger charge.

3. I don't think there's a "stand" for the Dare, but if there is I'd like one. I use my Dare as an alarm clock next to my bed - showing the big clock while it's charging & it would be nice to have it standing.

4. I saw someone posted, but it wasn't answered about assigning a seperate ringtone for Mobile Mail - I just started using that last night and I don't think it is possible. And by the way, the notification of new mail is very slow or doesn't always work in my opinion.

Just some quick thoughts & comments.

1) It is not recommended to use a foreign cable on the Dare considering the fact that it could overpower the phone and mess it up. However this is a low risk action but it's not recommended.

2)If your asking about the battery life being a little more extensive, then I would suggest getting the extended battery for it. It's a bit pricey buying from Verizon but there may be a cheaper one out there. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessoryPopup?item=accessoryMart&accessoryId=38429

3) From my knowledge there is not a stand like that. Sorry

4)I never use the Mobile E-Mail feature so I don't know too much about it but from what I do know, I don't think there's a way to alter that notification sound.

1.  Yes, you can use a non-Verizon USB cable.  Some links in this thread http://www.lg-dare.com/index.php/topic,3277.0.html

2.  I personally don't like the added bulk of extended batteries.  But here's a thread discussing it http://www.lg-dare.com/index.php/topic,586.0.html

3.  There are stands available.  Here's some from a site I had bookmarked, I've never bought from them though.  http://www.daydeal.com/home.php?cat=3039

You can download BackUp Assistant from Get it Now. Useful for transfering contacts from an old phone to a new phone. $1.99/month or free if you have a My Verizon online account. Must have the program on both phones though.

Darewallpaper.com has some great wallpapers (courtesy k458). Check the wallpapers section for more stuff. Try google
