Hello all.
I thought I would register here and hopefully get some feedback on what may be my new phone. I'll give a little history and where I am first though.

Currently, I'm with T-Mobile and using a BB Pearl. While the Pearl is a great little phone, I've been wanting something a bit more. I enjoy texting and surfing the web on my phone. I use it as a way to stay in contact with friends and business associates alike AND as a portable entertainment machine. I thought the Instinct looked like a good match so I went and bought one. Wow. What a stinker. Did you know that if you are surfing and you get a call, you won't know it? It will dump straight to voicemail. It's like the phone could only do one....thing.....at...a....time. Now I'm not expecting a multitasking masterpiece but I thought it was rather weak. The browser is really poor on it. Also, I couldn't use my Bellsouth e-mail. Sprint and most forums said that it was Bellsouth's fault. That it was not possible to use their e-mail outside of my home computer. REALLY? Wow! My Little Blackberry Pearl works FINE with it. Basically, I could receive e-mails but couldn't send any and the "solution" of get a g-mail account doesn't cut it with me. Basically, I thought the Instinct was buggy and cheap feeling so back it went. I will admit that it had a VERY nice touchscreen though.

Fast forward and I'm looking at the Dare. It has the features I'd like to use and I haven't really seen much negativity. The biggest concern I had is the lack of internal memory in the Dare. Do any of you have any concerns about it? I'd like to get as much feedback as I can. (iPhone is out of the question too. Like the phone but hate AT&T.)

So, that's about it. I want a fun phone that I can text, surf, e-mail and do all my other crazy stuff. Believe it or not, the Pearl does this but it's tired and I want to move on. Is the Dare the right phone for me?

Welcome to the forum! We are glad to have you here. The Dare is a great phone, but it is not for everyone. The best thing to do is to try it out for yourself.

The Dare is a very nice phone, Im pretty happy with it.

I can give a few things about it compared to the Iphone since I own the new 3G as well.
The touch screen is good but no its not the best coming home from my iphone to my Dare is like learning everyday. Its by no means bad its just not excellent.

The browser is a fairly decent browser, no it isnt like going home to your computer but for a Verizon phone it is very well put together and if I could say is really fassst.

The camera is one of the things that really stands on this phone as it is the best one for Verizon. If your into taking a lot of pictures with a phone then its really nice, but If your use to your $600 digital camera then the Dare could maybe be ok for you if you forgot your good camera lol.

Texting at first wasnt so great at first but down the line I got a lot better at it and I like it more than any of the other touch screen phones I have messed with, well the instinct and Dare. The Iphones to me is more accurate but I think thats because of the better touchscreen.

My Dad has the Pearl for Verizon and it is nice but he likes his Curve better, but he also likes my Dare more than the Pearl.

So overall I think the Dare would be a very nice choice for you but no matter what you should go into the store and play with it for a while just to see if its for you.

Let me know if this helped at all it was quick and brief.

Thanks for the review. I'll try to give one some play time tomorrow at lunch. I was really disappointed in the Instinct. To me, it was a lot of hype that wasn't really backed up. I guess I was trying to make sure that the Dare isn't the same thing. I'll play with one a bit and see if I can get more answers out of a Verizon person and then report back here.

Thanks again for your time.  CHEERS!

I went ahead and picked up a Dare at lunch. I haven't had a whole lot of time to poke around with it yet due to a bunch of Engineers spontaneously losing every bit of rationale and me have to pull it all together. *sigh*

Anyhow, I tried to go to youtube as it's a staple of mine when I'm bored. I don't like the "mobile" version as there are MANY videos that aren't there. I loaded the "normal" version but it won't play any videos. (Something about not having java on, etc, etc. I checked and java is indeed on.) Am I doomed to be stuck with youtube mobile only? They kill the resolution even MORE on the mobile site. Not too sure how I feel about the browser overall though really. It's kinda.......funky. (Probably just a learning curve.)

Day is young but I got mine. I'll try to set up all the e-mail and stuff tonight when I get home.

Cheers!

I believe the reason that the normal YTube site doesn't work is because the phone isn't equipped w/ flash. (Just like the iPhone, it has a mobile / app prepared function) Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I saw it on a review.

You appear to be 100% correct. Is a bummer but liveable. I'm trying to figure out a few more things that are a bigger concern than that. Like trying to get e-mail notifications, etc.
