First Step: Ok, grab your Dare and open the bluetooth menu, which is found under settings and tools. Under the options, click " discovery mode", and make sure it is turned on. Sweet, you're ready for step 2.

Step 2: Pair your computer to your phone via Bluetooth. This is done in the computers bluetooth menu, usually found in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar. Thats right, there....right next to the clock. You see it? Good. It is highly possible your phone will all ready be visible here. If not, click on "set up bluetooth device" and follow the steps. I turn off the option to use my phone to access the internet, because I don't want any zany charges they like to sneak in on ya.

3: Yay! You've done it!

4: now that you've succesfully paired your phone to your Mac, the rest is cake. Download all those lovely ringtones and wallpapers here on lgdare.com or zedge.com. To send the file to your phone, simply ctrl click the file and in the menu that pops up, scroll down to " more" and then " send______.mp3" and then select your phone.

5: The ringtone, if thats what you're going for, will show up in your sounds folder. To set it as a ringtone, simply send it to yourself in a text message, and then in the messages option menu, select " save as ringtone"

As a Mac user, and as someone who has yet to really break the surface of Bitpim, I find this the easiest way, outside of just using a card reader, to do this.

let me know if it doesn't work!

Sticky. I felt that this is a good tutorial, simple, yet effective for anyone looking here to find how to transfer files to the Dare until BitPim starts working on Mac OS X. Good post.

Thanks for the write up. This will certainly help others using macs. I did this right away on my Dare as well great way to transfer pics, mp3's, etc. FYI for those not familiar with using bitpim it will work for transferring ringtones  directly to the ringtones section in your phone. Wallpaper also worked in sending over pics to my phone. You do have to edit the size of the mp3 file to work as a ringer, if it's to big your phone won't like it. Plus bitpim let's you edit your ringer so that it works as a ringtone. I had to use the VX9100 setting in bitpim since right now there's no setting for the VX9700. Anyway thanks for sharing the useful info...

Movies will also work with this method, although, obviously if it's a big movie it is going to take some time. But if you just want to throw some youtube videos on there, it's quick and painless.

That is, of course, if you know how to convert them.

One discovery... This process doesnt work in the reverse ... You cant transfer over bluetooth directly to it.  LOL.  BUT....you can Browse the device so if you have a picture that you want to transfer just move the file to the phone and then go from there.  I believe the same can be done for movies too...

Do you mean sending stuff from your phone ( such as contact cards, messages, pictures, movies,mp3s, etc) to your bluetooth enabled Mac? Because you can totally do that too. It is just as easy as the other way around, but doesn't quite work the same.

1. On your phone, select the file you want to send. For this example, I'll use a picture I took on my phone.

2. Select the picture in your " my pictures "album. On the bottom left hand side of your dare, touch send.

3. In the menu that pops up, select "Via bluetooth"

4. Select your paired mac from the list of compatible devices that pops up.

5. Voila. The file is sent.

It seems that there are lots of handy bluetooth pairing tricks. Hopefully this thread can be a place where they are discovered and available as a resource for new Dare owners using macs.

Depends on when you purchase your ibook, as I know the final revision of that line did receive bluetooth.

If you have bluetooth, you should be good to go.

I have tried this as well and it DOES NOT work when sending files from the phone to the Mac via BT.  When you attempt to send anything it says check bluetooth status of receiving device.  I am using a aluminum Imac with 10.5.4 installed btw.

Has anyone found a solution for syncing contacts etc with the Dare when on 10.5?  I have tried both BitPim and FoneLink and neither will connect to the Dare.
