I just got my LG dare with an 8gb micro SD
recently I have been looking around for random accessories and I came across a battery that claims to give the dare a much longer battery life.

I'm interested in buying it but does anyone actually have it?
I am just afraid that if I use that battery then i can't use any skin, case, etc.
Also it seems kind of trippy in my opinion

Hi David, welcome from another recent David to this forum! Cheesy

IMO, I've never opted for an extended life battery in any phone that requires a different protruding cover - just for that reason that it makes the phone that much thicker and more awkward. Why don't you just try out the standard battery for awhile and see if it's life suits your needs first, unless you've already deemed otherwise... As to the "Ultimate Extended Battery 3000mAh", I have bought a few higher mAh batteries for my dSLR camera and haven't really noticed much improvement other than what any 'new' battery over and older one might. But to each there own, and your mileage may vary....

Cheers,
David

oh first of all,
cool, another David! lol
and the only actual reason that i wanted an extended battery was because i chose a dare over a cheap phone and ipod 8gb and i wanted to use the phone for music and i did not know if the battery could last long enough throughout my regular day of use wich is about 2-4 hours

I use my dare pretty heavy. I listen to music, watch movies, surf the web, and I am able to usually get 2 full days of use before I have to plug it in. If your worried about thickness I found a post with pictures of the dare with the extended battery.

also it doesn't hurt having a spare battery laying around. it helps out when you don't have time to charge the phone. also that battery looks even bigger than the lg extended batteries.

You are correct david90249.  If you use the extended battery - the normal skin and/or case will not fit.  You will have to make it a point to find one that will fit.

If you are going to keep spare batteries laying around, please be mindful of the warning on page 1 of the User Guide, about storage temperatures (-4F to +122F).  Do not just put one in the glove box, just in case... it's not like "clean underwear!"

Battery rotation is a good practice.  It's like "exercise" for the battery's electrolyte.  On my mom's Tracfone, I regularly rotate the batteries every other week.

You can also extend the charge on your phone by getting into the habit of docking your phone, every time you sit down to use the computer (and the computer is turned on).  You can still use the phone, while it's docked for music and such.  Just remember to undock it before placing or answering calls (page 3 of User Guide).

Have you ever gotten a device that came with a "little yellow piece of paper" in the box that says "Do not connect to PC until AFTER installing software;" and then counted the number of forum posts from people who didn't Tongue

I am not a fan of the various extended batteries for a variety of reasons.  I have yet to see a back that fit properly and you cannot find a case that fits them properly.

I simply charge my Dare at night and I find that even with strong usage during the day I have no problems in keeping it at near full charge.  I either use the player or listen to streamed music via ORB and have yet to have it die before  I can get home.

Up to 30 seconds for video messages; or up to one hour, or until you run out of memory, for recording locally.
