aFlix

After reading the description for this application, I can now say with 100% certainty that the application developers at Verizon are a bunch of crack smoking monkeys.  Do they REALLY think people are going to spend $5.49 a month when they can just go to youtube?!?

We can't get Visual Voicemail or ESPN MVP, but we get a fricking ripoff wannabe youtube app!  REALLY??

Verizon has lost all touch with reality.

all these apps are gay man. I would even just like that simple app i had for free on the voyager, you hear a song on the radio, your phone listens to it, and tells you what song it is.

these apps are all so costly and stupid. imo. duhh.

You're talking about the "VCAST Song ID".  That, you can get.  go to Media Center --> Music & Tones --> Get New Ringtones -->  Get New Applications.  Should be in there.  It doesn't always seem to work.  I am definitely NOT impressed with Verizon's apps.  I wonder when they'll realize nobody is paying for these?

See, the thing that baffles me is why people are getting worked up about this.  People keep comparing our phone to the iPhone.  They're two different category of cell phones.  One the one hand, you have our phone: a phone with extra gizmos.  On the other hand, you have the Storm or iPhone: mini computers with phones.  That's why you pay the extra $30/mo for them.  If you're upset that the Dare doesn't have better apps, don't leave Verizon; get the Storm.

interesting.  And that was for any typical phone, not just smart phones?

I understand that Sprint's customer service sucks.  I've never had it, but I've yet to hear a good review of it.  If I remember right, their service map isn't all that extensive, either.

pianofreak - could you please show me where in this thread anyone has compared the Dare to the iPhone?  Oh wait, they haven't.

This discussion is about one thing - the lack of applications for the Dare.  I'm sure no one expects the Dare to have 1000 apps like the iPhone.  We just want some apps.

As of right now, the Dare has a total of 16 applications.  The enV2 has 54, and the Voyager has 65.

I and many others probably wouldn't be complaining as much if Verizon were to push out quality applications for the Dare.  But they are not.  Instead, they are pushing out garbage such as this aFlix application.

If Verizon continues their current practices I can guarantee you that they will start to lose customers.  It is already a tight market, and Verizon cannot afford to piss off their existing customers.

i think verizon released these apps for the dare, like aFlix, eBay, and Wikimobile, is for people that don't have the vcast pack that they can view youtube vids and ebay and wiki. which, imo, is pretty dumb cuz most people that have the dare have the vcast pack. and if they dont then its dumb cuz the web is the best feature one this phone, imo. beats paying monthly for these crappy apps

I didn't mean to cause a fight; sorry.  :-D

I know nobody in this thread has compared it to the iphone, just on this forum in general.

Look, I get that the apps are crap for this phone.  I don't use any of them, not the browser, not the mail, none.  In my opinion, the entire Verizon OS is crap.  Either BREW is extremely limited, or Verizon's programmers have no imagination.

Voyager is over a year old.  No surprises it has more apps.  enV2, while only about 6 months, still is older than the Dare.

Wasn't it Kildars who said something big is supposed to be coming for the Dare?  (I can't remember who...)  Perhaps Verizon is gearing up for something real, and is giving us poo-poo apps to lead us on.  I dunno.  lol

I suppose for me, having come from a basic samsung phone, the lack of apps doesn't bother me.  Then again, if you're expecting the phones to have decent apps, I can understand where you're coming from.  It was just never anything I expected to have.

I'm not certain they'll lose many customers.  People like you, who use their phones for more than phones, will walk away.  Or buy the Storm.  :-)  Which is what I really want to do, but can't afford.  As much as I would love to have my phone be a mini computer, I'm willing to let it go simply because I can't afford it at this point.  The geek in me would like to see useful apps, but I have no intention of paying $5/mo for any of the apps they offer.

well i dont know about anyone else, but i expected this phone to be loaded with apps since i heard people calling it the iphone killer. 16 apps, come on now. they can at least release ONE good app. this phone was a disappointment for me apps wise. the only reason i kept it cuz it's a sweet phone overall.

I agree with this.  I can overlook it because, in all honesty, it is just a phone to me.  And there is enough good about Verizon that I can over look it.  But for the most part, I'll agree... these apps suck.  I wouldn't pay 5 cents for them!
