Verizon released a new app today, Weatherbug. "Always be informed and prepared with live local weather, severe weather alerts, detailed forecasts, and international weather."  It costs $2.99 monthly, and has a 10 minute free trial.

This is yet another useless app for me since i can get my weather forecasts on the browser.

Man, every app they charge for that we can get for free online makes me wonder are they just going out of their way to sh** on us?  Maybe I am not seeing some obvious reason that they are trying to charge us for things that we get for free from the browser....if they were giving this for free then great but what is the point?

edit:  just tried the guitar tuner - it is nice to see a useful app and I'm happy to pay for it...this is a good sign, lets hope for more.

What is really starting to piss me off is that we can't get two apps that most other phones have (VVM and ESPN MVP) but we get two almost worthless apps.  Granted if you are a musician then the tuner app might be good for you, but how many people are musicians?

I truly believe that Verizon is on crack.  I think we should make Kildars and the rest of them take a drug test.   Wink

You sure that wasn't the Mycast weather 5 app, cause that is a different one.  You can never pay for enough weather checking apps that you can get for free online

Lets be fair - worthiness is all in the eye of the beer holder.. Wink To me, ESPN MVP is a gigantic waste of time and is worthless. I couldn't care less about getting some sports stats on my phone... its not like I am the coach or manager of the team.  I mean really... now many people are sports managers?   Wink

i agree with verizon takeing this app and shoveing it. on the other hand, im fasinated by weather. growing up in florida, i found myself being hit by a hurricane every two weeks or so. (exaduated but you get my point) i dont like the damage and destruction that comes with the storms, but the fasination of watching them and experianceing the power can be exillerating. i can get weather free from my phone, so verizon wasted money on ptting this app on the dare. jmo

I have no interest whatsoever in some of what iPhone/Apple call apps which appear to be mere "toys".  There was one "app" that made the phone look like a glass of beer.  As you tilted it as if drinking it emptied the glass.  Don't recall if you had to pay for that but even if free would have been a waste of download time.  Their not being available in a BREW format on the Dare is no loss.

Of the available apps for the Dare with the exception of Navigator and Guitar Tuner there is nothing I see that is not available for free.  I am waiting for the apps and I mean real useful apps to become available for this phone.  I would not pay for a weather app when free is available.

Yep it is $20.00 for Guitar Tuner.  That and Navigator are the two apps that I couldn't find free alternatives for.  Everything else available for the Dare has a free alternative.

why you would pay for a weather app when you could have a link on your custom homepage is beyond me. I have 2 weather icons on mine and I can prolly have them both loaded before the weatherbug opens (depending on where I am for decent service of course)
