I searched the forum for it but couldnt fine my answer, and the support section wasnt letting me access it so i posted here.

Anyway is there a way possible to make the screen turn back on when calling cause it goes black and it really annoys me with the voicemail and taking notes from a call or recieving another call or txt, or just have it turn off together?

If you move it away from your face the screen will turn back on with different things you can do while on a phone call

Go to Settings --> Call Settings -->  Show Dialpad
Make sure the setting is set to "Voicemail/Toll-Free"

There is a sensor on the upper right of your phone.  During a phone call, if it's covered, it'll turn off your screen.  If you cover it with your finger, even, it'll turn it off.

Do you have anything blocking the sensor on the upper right of the screen like a case?

If not then you need to exchange it.

Is your proximity sensor covered by something?  On the top of the screen to the right of the Verizon logo is a proximity sensor which turns off the screen when it is by your face.  However, if you keep the sensor covered the screen will immediately turn black when you place a call and remain black even if you press the screen or unlock key.  Do you have something covering the sensor?

Other than that, you can check these settings:

  • Adjust time that backlight stays on:  Settings & Tools ► Display Settings ► Backlight ► make sure not set to 7 seconds
  • Show dialpad when necessary: Settings & Tools ► Call Settings ► Show Dialpad ► Voicemail/Toll-Free
  • Prevent screen from auto locking: Settings & Tools ► Touch Settings ► Auto Lock ► Off

I have mine set to dialpad always on and 15 seconds backlight and when I am on a call and put the phone to my ear it goes out.  Move it away and it comes back on.

It is sounding more like your sensor is bad. They will replace it at the store no problem.

This sounds like the same problem I had and posted about a week or so ago! There seems to be more and more of this but my 3rd phone is still going strong!

Mine did the same thing. I simply took it back to Verizon and I got a new one. Of course I am still under the one year clause. angel
