I refuse to wear it on a belt clip -- they look too geeky.

Much of the time though I have it on a lanyard around my neck so unlocking is not an issue.

laugh I found amusement in this

I do not have however tape holding my glasses together.  I haven't carried a sliderule in a belt holster in at least thirty years.  I don't wear white socks and shortsleeve white shirts with a clip-on tie.

Dare-The-Geeko I don't picture you putting your Dare in your pocket.  I bet you have one of those chains you hang around your neck and your Dare is clip'd to it?

All the freaking time. At least a few times a day I pull my phone out of my pocket and it's doing sometime, more often making calls and starting a new text msg.

I too have thought of returning it for another phone because of this very reason.

I have purchased a hard case for it, it works for the purpose of keeping your buttons unpressed while in your pocket, but other than that I do not really like it. It makes the phone more bulky imo, and sometimes hard to press the shortcut menu on the screen.

Yea, I'm not emo or goth or whatever. I'm an average geek that can't get girls as usual.

I had no idea that was called a lanyard...

i use a horizontal belt holster...
my opinion...  vertical = geeky , horizontal = not geeky (but alway behind your front pockets =)

Hi folks -

I have had a couple of instances of this - I carry the phone in my pocket (but not when sitting down....) and on two occasions I have had extended long phone calls  to people in my contact list -

I can only assume the phone was unlocked, then the screen was touched in such a way as to dial the contact.

That could be embarassing....depending on how much conversation is picked up lol.....

best regards -

A hard case will prevent the unlock button from accidentally being pushed.  Never had an issue.  Not as cool looking with the hard case, but I've never had it accidentally unlock.

(EVERYthing I'm about to share is true-to-the-letter!)

Lying (on it's "pillow" ) even as I type this is Dare#4 - all provided free by Verizon. The first one came to live with me at the end of July. I repair Appliances for a living, which takes me to many a tight place. In the Van-out of the Van - down on the floor; up on the ladder - well, you get the picture.

So I'm leaving a house call when I hear my pocket yellin at me: "STOP-CALLING-ME !!!" it says. I gingerly take out my Dare and ask: "I beg your paedon?" That was the first ear-full of several over the next week.
It would unlock and dial up a completely random number from the "all-calls" list. ANY number! The one consistant aspect was that it always did a three-peat. No sooner would they give up as no words were ever uttered (of course) on my end - than it would ring-em-up-again!

Then it changed ring tones - on the hour, for two days, and then it quit!

Twice it opened VZ Access and I heard the kids from South Park kickin it!

Then came the "ERG" mystery! It takes three separate menues to get to it.
For those with sight issues there is an aid that sounds out each key that's typed  with its verbal equivalent. Somehow Phone1 got by them all.

Then came Phone2!

It worked great for two months and then began to "drop-all-incoming-calls" after 24 seconds. All outgoing calls were fine. Tech-support insisted that the prob just HAD to be in the phone - "Our equipment would alert us if it was responcible - We're sending out a replacement ASAP."

Phone3 "appeared" to have a birth defect - it did exactly the same drop all incomming calls; funny thing - in exactly the same 24 seconds! Right; the kink was in the switching station after all. However, that Phone3 (used) unit was so crummy looking that I took it right from the FedEx truck to the Verizon store.

So the Tech support gal got Phone4 all set up with my stuff (speed dial,  contacts, bluetooth, media files, & card) and it did the exact same thing - again. Surprise-Surprise!  It was at the end of a long day for the tech support gal and my mess was still a mess! I suggested she let me come back in the morning with Phone4 and she agreed.

As I was leaving my home the next morning Tech support called to say they had found a defective switch in their network. I still have Phon4.

It lives on a soft pillow.  Just kidding- but I'm betting there won"t be a Phone5!

What an introductory post...I am still bemused and amused.  A Dare residing on a pillow.

I hope with the defective switch this Dare is performing to standard.

I can't say I have ever had my phone unlock, but it does have a "case":

Doesn't add alot of size, but gives good protection and apparently hides the buttons well.. Cool

Hey Madcat, that case looks pretty nice... do you like it?  Does it seem to attract lint while in your pocket?  I bought the silicone one from the Verizon store, and while I like it... it protects the phone nice... it does seem to attract a lot of lint when in my pocket, making it look... bleh.  So I'm just curious about yours.

Oh, and to keep things on-topic -- with the silicone case (that the verizon wireless stores sell) -- I have never had the phone unlock on me by accident in my pocket.

Thx...
